March 10th Drake Passage
During the years 1577-1580, Francis Drake, the famous English explorer and buccaneer, sailed around the wordl. On September 6, 1577, he cleared the Strait of Magellan, but the next day a severe storm struck driving his ship to 57° South. He reached the place where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet. This turbulent place is known as the Drake Passage.
